Farewell Party

A new year has gone by, and our language assistant, Ajah Ogio, is leaving. We had a surprise party for her and she was really moved. Thank you, dear Ajah. We wish you the best that life has to offer.

Festivals in the USA

We all know about Halloween and Thanksgiving Day. However, in the USA there are many other festivals which are worth studying. Since the two bilingual schools in Montoro have shared a language assistant this year we decided to organise a school activity around these not so well-known festivals. The activity took place at Santos Isasa school and the 4th Primary students of CEIP Nuestra Señora del Rosario were invited to join.

The Santos Isasa students (1º ESO) prepared some power points about:
- Arbor Day
- Flag Day
- Kentucky Derby

and the teachers and our assistant organised games, quizzes and other fun activities  around the information given.

School Exchange - Montoro / Torino (Italy)

The students of 1º Bachillerato have had the chance to live a school exchange with a Liceo from Turin, in Italy. Liceo Carlo Cattaneo is a science-oriented school with a bilingual section in Spanish. Our students travelled to Italy in April and enjoyed visiting the city as well as Milan and doing curricular and sport activities with their Italian partners. The Italian students arrived in Montoro in May and took part in all the activities (history, sport, art and music) that we had prepared for them. Italian, Spanish and English were the languages that we used in the exchange, so the students really understood how important being able to speak another language is.

Team Building Day 2015

Last May 5th the 4th ESO groups of IES Santos Isasa and IES Miguel Crespo (Fernán Núñez) met in Córdoba for a joint activity around the history of the city. We organised different activities in which teams composed of students from both schools had to work together to find the correct answers.

Legends

The students had to unjumble the sentences to make the whole story.

Treasure Hunt

Around the figure of The Great Captain, Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, the students discovered many unknown facts about the most important landmarks in the city centre. The hunt combined activities of English, Maths, History, Art and the students had to use the new technologies (i.e. their mobile phones) to do certain tasks.

History of the City

Again, some collaborative work to decipher some bites of the history of Córdoba

Interview

The students had to interview foreigners in English about their trip to the city.

It goes without saying that everybody had a wonderful time and learned a lot about the city. They all got a diploma and there were special prizes for the winners of each activity.

In the European Parliament - Euroscola

As you know, a group of 13 students of our school won the Euroscola 2014 competition in Spain. One of the prizes they got was a visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg (France). Last 19th March the much-awaited visit took place. The students and their teachers were able to spend a whole day with teenagers from other 23 European countries and they debated about hot issues in Europe at the moment. Of course, all the talks and discussions were conducted in English. The experience was enlightening and the whole trip was unforgettable since they were also able to enjoy the beauty of the city of Strasbourg.

Science in English

Who said that the phases of the moon are difficult to learn, let alone in English? Well, with some recycled material and a little bit of imagination everything is possible, as our 1º ESO students can show. This is one of our students' projects.

Montoro Fashion Week V

A new edition of our world famous Fashion Week has just started. New models, new clothes, but the same excitement on the catwalk. The students of 2º ESO A and 2º ESO B have prepared their descriptions in English, French and Spanish. They show their clothes to the rhythm of their favourite music. Look at the photos below and enjoy!
