Spring is coming and all the big fashion houses start to show their new collections. In the 21st century there seems to be not just one direction in the world of fashion but anything becomes trendy if the right celebrity decides to wear your outfit. The 2nd ESO students have shown their proposals. Here are some pictures of the show:
Invertebrates
Our 1º eso students have been studying the classification of invertebrate animals. They have put their knowledge and imagination into work and have created these little "critters" with recyled material: paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, bottle caps, clothes pegs, plates, ... Amazing!
Christmas Tree
To celebrate that Christmas time has arrived the 1 ESO students have decorated our Christmas tree with words in English and French related to the season. Here is the result:
Mediterranean Cuisine Day
As part of the Erasmus+ project the 4 ESO students are involved in we have been working with Mediterranean recipes for a few weeks. The icing on the cake is the Mediterranean Cuisine Day.
After so much theoretical work, it was time to show how good at cooking we were. D-Day arrived and we invited our students and their families, who contributed to the culinary show with some traditional Spanish recipes, to enjoy the diversity of the Mediterranean gastronomy. New flavours, new ingredients, new ways of cooking...and some staple things: good olive oil and wine (only for teachers, of course!). We discovered some really good chefs among our teachers. We enjoyed cooking these recipes (from Greece, Italy, Croatia and France) and also setting the table and putting up the decoration. All in all it was a wonderful lunch in great conviviality and lots and lots of delicious food. Just have a look at the photos to check!

International Day of Inventors
November 9th is the International Day of Inventors. To celebrate it, we have devoted one lesson in each subject to talk about some important inventors and their minds' children. We have talked about such luminaries as Thomas Edison but also about other less renowned inventors, without whom things like a safety pin or a can opener wouldn't have been invented.
We have also conducted a survey. We wanted to know which invention is considered to be the most important for our students. Here is the survey (click here) and these are the results
By the way, why is that day celebrated on the 9th of November? It is the birthday of the Austrian-born inventor and Hollywood actress Hedy Lamarr whose main invention was the frequency-hopped spread spectrum 1942. In the USA, however, it is celebrated February 11th, the birthday of Thomas Edison.
HALLOWEEN
Are you frightened of ghosts? Do vampires and werewolves scare you? If your answer is NO, then go on reading. Would you like to go into a haunted house? Would you like to terrify friends and relatives? If your answer is YES, then go on reading.
This year we celebrated HALLOWEEN with a spectacular Jack O Lantern Competition. All the 1º eso students created wonderfully spooky creatures. Have a look!
And the winners of the competition got a delicious prize!
Then, on 31st October, we learned some interesting vocabulary and watched a video about how British children celebrate Halloween.
The students worked with the new vocabulary and enjoyed learning about Halloween traditions with this presentation:
Finally, they played some games
Tonguetwisters Contest
To celebrate the European Day of Languages we held a competition last Monday, 26th September. Students (2nd ESO - 13 years old) had to memorize some not too easy tonguetwisters in English, French (virelangues) and Spanish. It was really good fun and everybody had a wonderful time! For the jury (some of their teachers), choosing the best ones was not an easy task. Here are the winners in each language.
